IDPwithBEE Mid-Season IDP Only Draft

We’re already passed mid-season in the 2013 NFL season but how about we have a little fun here and take a look at the possibilities of where certain IDP Rookies would land in an IDP-Only draft.  Some IDP’s are tied to their originally drafted team because that’s what fits and they got it right, but others landed in new spots and could be even more valuable in the IDP world.  As always, feel free to hit me up via twitter @IDPwithBEE_DSE and remember, this is one of those “what if” scenarios.

KCC KIKO ALONSO LB as good as Marcus Cooper has been for the Chiefs, I mean I was seriously considering putting Cooper here, but imagine this defense with Alonso alongside Derrick Johnson? Arguably best LB corps in the league.
JAC SHELDON RICHARDSON DE would’ve inserted Cyprien because that was the right pick, but Jaguars need some meat on that line, they need an interior rush and Richardson has been impressive thus far, he’d definitely make an impact.
OAK MARCUS COOPER CB Cooper has been ballin’ and quickly becoming one of the top corners in the league (already).  Raiders need help more in the secondary and Cooper would be an instant impact.
PHI TYRANN MATHIEU S Mathieu has been ballin this year, not too my surprise and imagine him on this Eagles defense.  He’d be all over the field making plays and would be putting up crazy numbers because he’d be a full-time starter at FS.
DET EZEKIEL ANSAH DE Lions got it right the first time with Ansah as they needed pass rushers from the edge.  Definitely hitting the learning curve but Ansah has been solid this year, I can only imagine how much of a beast he’ll be in his 2nd season next to Suh and Fairley.
CLE BARKEVIOUS MINGO LB Browns hit the mark with Mingo, their front line is a nightmare to handle and their secondary is one of the best so with them going Mingo they hit the lotto with this.  He’s been good in his spare snaps he’s seen and has gotten to the QB.
ARI JONATHAN CYPRIEN CB/S Cardinals don’t have a chance to rob the NFL of Mathieu here so they’ll settle for Cyprien which isn’t a bad thing.  Cyprien will give the Cardinals youth at the safety position and their starter for years to come.
BUF ALEC OGLETREE LB Bills lucked out with Alonso in the actual draft but here they lose out and get a shot at Ogletree, now hard too say if Ogletree could fill Alonso’s shoes right now but Ogletree is an athlete.  Alonso is solid against the run but questionable in coverage, Ogletree can do a bit of both himself being he’s a former safety.
NYJ SIO MOORE LB Sio is a late riser but definitely fits the mold of NYJ need of an outside rusher.  Moore has picked up steam as of late and Rex Ryan would utiliize Moore to his strength and make this Jets defense strong.
TEN STAR LOTULELEI DT Star hasn’t been flashy in the IDP world but he’s definitely doing his thing in Carolina on that talented front line.  Titans could’ve gone another route here (LB) because their secondary is set and recent play of Casey and Klug with Ropati rising could make this line stellar with addition of Star; who is just a beast on the line.
SDC MANTI TE’O LB with the injuries to the Chargers defense and lack of LB Depth, drafting Te’o was the right call and is the right call here.  Te’o has improved and will continue to develop and learn on the fly because Butler can’t stay healthy.
MIA DION JORDAN LB/DE Jordan has played well in his limited snaps and will be a force when he gets full-time duties.  Dolphins made the right choice here as Jordan will compliment Wake just fine and/or make the move to OLB with Ellerbe/Wheeler because the Dolphins have to get Jordan’s versatility on the field.
TBB DESMOND TRUFANT CB Trufant has been a pretty solid corner so far and in the draft Bucs took Banks, but with Trufant still available it’s a much easier choice for Tampa to make.  He’d be a nice compliment opposite Revis and Trufant can hold his own.
CAR KENNY VACCARO S Prior to the injuries, the Panthers needed help in the secondary and especially at safety.  Vaccaro would step right in with a then healthy Godfrey and make an immediate impact.
NOS ERIC REID S Reid has been ballin all season and has definitely surprised many, but for me during my pre-draft rankings I had Reid as my #1 safety.  Saints miss out on Vaccaro here but get a solid rising safety in Reid.  With Harper winding down, Reid would step right in on this new aggressive defensive scheme Rob Ryan has in New Orleans.  I was going to go LB with this choice but Reid made more sense.
STL  EARL WOLFF S Wolff has the talent and Rams need a safety, he’ll be around the ball majority of the time as he provides a solid dose of pass deflections.  Had to earn his start in PHI but in STL he’d be an immediate starter and have solid DB2 value and one to definitely target in dynasty. i personally like this move but Wolff is solid in PHI too because Chung/Allen are not the answers.
PIT CHRIS JONES DL Jones came out of nowhere to provide an impact on the Patriots line but that’s in the NFL, in this IDP draft he’s going to the Steelers who seem to have no pass rush from the interior and that’s exactly what Jones will provide.  Has 4.5 QB sacks soon as he got an increase in snaps and shall provide Steelers with a strong pass rush.
DAL MATT ELAM S before Ware and Spencer got injured, the Cowboys had everything set but safety and Elam would be a treat alongside Church.
NYG ARTHUR BROWN LB yes, Brown has gotten very limited playtime right now but he’s got the talent and had arguably been one of the better LB’s in this draft.  Giants desperately need a MLB and Brown fits the bill, would provide immediate impact and IDP owners would rejoice.
CHI JON BOSTIC LB Putting Bostic here with the Bears as originally turned out fits the bill.  Even if DJ Williams was healthy, Bostic is right choice here as he’ll be the future at the MLB position.  He’s getting his snaps now and shall turn it on soon.
CIN KEVIN MINTER LB Maualuga has been decent this season but he’s not the future inside, unless CIN had already moved Burfict to MLB then Minter would be the selection.  Not a flashy player but he gets the job done and he and Burfict would form a solid 1-2 punch in Cincy.
STL KHASEEM GREENE LB Greene would be the “Ogletree” role in St. Louis had this happened and in my opinion could replicate the numbers.  One of my fav LB’s entering the draft and now he’s getting his chance to shine (in CHI), but Rams fill a need here as Dunbar has been brought back too.
MIN ROBERT ALFORD CB Alford is a solid corner and Vikings desperately need a cover corner.  Alford is a ball hawk and would raise his IDP value big time if he were in MIN.
IND COREY LEMONIER LB/DE Used sparingly when Aldon Smith was gone, definitely shown flashes in San Fran but this time he takes his talents to IND and imagine the edge blitzes with Mathis and Lemonier?  Instead of wasting money on Walden, Colts would’ve had a better choice here with Lemonier and cheaper.
SEA MARGUS HUNT DE Hunt hasn’t played much but he’s behind a strong defensive line in Cincy.  Hunt is a freak of nature and on this Seattle defense there’s not much “flaws” to point out or weak spots.  Adding Hunt to this pass rushing group of Clemons, Bennett, Avril, McDonald, MeBane and Bryant would give opposing QB’s nightmares.
GBP VINCE WILLIAMS LB with Burnett now healthy and Hayward back soon, Shields and Tramon playing well the weakspots in GB are their front, and they’ve suffered injuries.  Vince isn’t a household name but he’s done some good things so far this season and can definitely help this Green Bay LB corps.
HOU TJ MCDONALD S Before his injury McDonald has looked solid and with Texans dealing with injuries McDonald would’ve stepped in right away and his IDP value would be in the viscinity of a DB2.
DEN KAWANN SHORT DT hard to find some flaws in this defense, they could probably add a corner here but Short has been solid and would be a nice addition to the front line.  Not on the IDP radar but this makes sense and who knows, maybe he would’ve been on IDP radar the way DT’s have been performing this year.
NEP JARVIS JONES LB Jarvis has under achieved but can all the blame be put on him? If he has issues then BB is the one to sort it out and erase it and put Jarvis in positions to succeed.  In my opinion Jarvis would’ve thrived had he gone on New England and got his game on track.
ATL DAVID AMERSON CB Amerson has been on the IDP map since week 3 if im not mistaken when he had a pick-6.  He’s a ball hawk and after losing out on Trufant and Alford here, Falcons settle for Amerson and with Asante back he’ll fit right in as he’d get full-time snaps and ability to flirt with DB2 status.
SF JOSH EVANS S In actual draft Jaguars got a steal with Evans as they paired him with Cyprien (solid safety duo for years) but in my IDP-_only mid-season draft he lands on the Niners because there is no trading allowed here so San Fran had to wait patiently for their pick.  Evans may be no Reid but he’s close.
BAL SHAWN WILLIAMS S Shawn is a baller and a solid tackler, in BAL defense he would’ve had DB2 type value.  Buried on the Bengals depth chart right now in NFL but he’d get a breath of fresh air had he landed in BAL.  In need of safety help, Shawn and Ihendigo would’ve been a nice start.
