“32 Teams 32 IDP Players”

32 IDP PLAYERS TO KEEP ON RADAR

  1. BUFFALO BILLS : (LB) SHAWNE MERRIMAN – full off-season of working out and getting healthy, Merriman should enter the season motivated to do good and he’s a great fit for the 3-4 defensive scheme as he’ll man the outside rushing the passer.
  2. NEW YORK JETS : (S) JIM LEONARD – injured late in the season, Leonard is clearly the “QB” on the Jets defense and if your league rewards return yards, Leonard can pitch in if he continues to return punts.
  3. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS : (LB) JERMAINE CUNNINGHAM – Patriots didn’t draft a LB so that bolds well for Jermaine entering his 2nd year.  Patriots looks like they’re putting full confidence in this kid and you should too, their defense is only getting better.  People may draft Guyton but you wait it out and grab Cunningham, should be a solid LB3 for your team.
  4. MIAMI DOLPHINS : (LB) KOA MISI – should get the starting nod this year and i expect a breakout year for Koa.  Needs to improve cover skills but can’t deny his pass rushing ability and stopping the runners, besides Dansby, Koa should be Dolphins 2nd best LB in 2011-2012.
  5. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS : (S) TAYLOR MAYS – He should get the starting job this season as he might be a late bloomer compared to his fellow draftmates at the same position but Mays got the talent to put up some nice numbers.  I expect a “TJ Ward” type of impact for Mays in the 49ers defense with high tackle numbers, definitely target Mays late in your rounds as one of your starting DB’s.
  6. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS : (S) KAM CHANCELLOR – Milloy is probably gone giving Kam a chance to start in his 2nd year.  Keep him on your watch list.
  7. ARIZONA CARDINALS : (LB) DARYL WASHINGTON – a lot of people thought he’d have a good rookie season, but figured he’d have to develop and get some reps in first.  With that being said he should soley take the MLB position and start from the 1st game and be a solid contributor in tackles.
  8. ST. LOUIS RAMS : (LB) JAMES LAURINITIS – I put James here because he has to have a bounce back season, he struggled last season to put up the type of numbers he’s capable of but that should all change and he’ll be back to form.
  9. DETROIT LIONS : (LB) BOBBY CARPENTER – He’ll be the starting RLB in Detroit’s 4-3 defense and Lions must like him a lot being that Bobby doesn’t have competition entering camp.  Carpenter could be serviceable for some bye week fill-in’s and maybe possible sleeper? I believe this is his last chance to do anything, really.
  10. GREEN BAY PACKERS : (S) MORGAN BURNETT – I’m not expecting Bigby to be back and Burnett should take over.  Before his season ending injury last year he showed promise.  Pairing him up with Nick Collins creates a beastly duo for the Packers and in IDP leagues you want the Safeties and not the Cornerbacks.  Put Burnett on your radar and reap the benefits vying he can stay healthy.
  11. CHICAGO BEARS : (S) MAJOR WRIGHT – I like Wright starting alongside Chris Harris in this Bears defense.  The opportunity is there for Major Wright, lets hope we can say the same for our IDP Rosters.
  12. MINNESOTA VIKINGS : (S) TYRELL JOHNSON – Frazier expects Johnson to start as he’ll be battling Madieu for a starting job.  I don’t expect Madieu to win the job and expect Tyrell to put up some nice numbers this season as a safety sleeper.
  13. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS : (S) MALCOM JENKINS – another guy who should be rostered and a “hot” name but with Sharper gone possibly for good, look for Jenkins to fully claim the safety spot and put up nice numbers.  Jenkins makes a nice DB2 for your team and should be on your target list.
  14. CAROLINA PANTHERS : (LB) THOMAS DAVIS – He’s back! After suffering a season ending injury last year, the LB standout from 2 years ago will be back healthy and taking care of the MLB spot in the Carolina offense as his comeback moves Beason back to his OLB spot.  Don’t forget about Davis come draft day, solid contributor all around but could be rusty in the beginning.
  15. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS : (S) CODY GRIMM – Tanard’s absence spelt opportunity for Grimm and he took advantage of it.  I like Grimm to continue to start alongside Sean Jones to help the young Buc’s defense.  With more playing time, Grimm should find himself around the ball more  providing his owners tackles and turnovers.
  16. ATLANTA FALCONS : (LB) SEAN WEATHERSPOON – Starting OLB spot is Sean’s for the taking as Lofton can man the middle with Nicholas on opposite side.  Falcons need any sort of pass rush they can get and Sean should help contribute there.
  17. DALLAS COWBOYS : (LB) SEAN LEE – Sean Lee is more so a dynasty pick-up if anything, James and Brooking look to start once again albeit there last year on their contracts and aging.  Future of the Cowboys is Carter and Lee with Lee seeing first dibs on reps.
  18. WASHINGTON REDSKINS : (LB) BRIAN ORAKPO – another house hold sorta name type player I’m mentioning because he’s due for a bounce back season too.  Lock him up for double digit sacks as the Redskins defense looks to improve.
  19. NEW YORK GIANTS : (LB) JONATHAN GOFF – LB’s are pretty much the lone weakness on this Giants defense, and Goff should continue to be some sort of strength for them.  Goff could turn out to be a nice sleeper, so you may not draft him but you’ll keep him on your watch list.
  20. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES : (DE) BRANDON GRAHAM – injured most of the year Graham looks to make an immediate impact entering his 2nd season.  He should easily take away the starting job from Parker and be one of the aggressors in the Eagles aggressive defensive scheme.  Graham got major talent and had he gotten ample playing time last year I bet he could’ve compete for defensive rookie of the year. Don’t sleep on Graham.
  21. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS : (LB) BRANDON SILER – if and when Cooper leaves, Siler should get the opportunity to start.  During his starts last year he did a good job, he’ll always be around the ball to provide his owners with some tackles.  Definitely a LB Sleeper just got to wait it out and see what happens in camp.
  22. OAKLAND RAIDERS : (DE) LAMAAR HOUSTON – in spot starts Houston was a beast for the Raiders and with his continuing development he can only get better.  His sack numbers should continue to rise on an up and coming front seven.  Keep your eye on Lamaar, better yet take a late round flier on him.
  23. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS : (S) ERIC BERRY – Chiefs are looking to have a heck of a secondary and this is my campaign to state Eric Berry will be this years #1 DB in IDP formats.  Started off slow last year and as the season was ending, Berry caught on fire as he got comfortable, dont be surprised he flirts with 10 ints and/or 100+ total tackles.  Get Berry and you’ll thank me later.
  24. DENVER BRONCOS : (DE) ELVIS DUMERVIL – he’ll be my comeback player of the year for sure and Denver really missed him last season.  He’ll not only help the defense but he should help DJ Williams get back into form too.  As Dumervil moves back to DE and should see less double-teams as DJ or Von Miller is lined up behind him.  Dumervil gets back to the double digit sack stats and definitely someone you should target once again, in dynasty leagues lets hope someone dropped him.
  25. PITTSBURGH STEELERS : (CB) CURTIS BROWN – yes Brown is a rookie but if they don’t resign Ike Taylor, the opportunity is there for Brown who probably got overshadowed by Aaron Williams.  Brown can cover and should see a lot of throws his way leading up to stats like tackles and interceptions.
  26. BALTIMORE RAVENS : (LB) JARET JOHNSON – Johnson should have a nice bounce-back year for the Ravens.  Rushing in from the outside he’ll help Suggs provide that pass rush and Johnson will get to the QB’s.  Johnson’s contributions should solidify him as a solid LB2.
  27. CLEVELAND BROWNS : (LB) D’QWELL JACKSON – Can Jackson FINALLY stay healthy and get back to his elite status prior to his injury 2 years ago? I believe so and Jackson is definitely the 1st Browns IDP player you’d want to target not named TJ Ward.
  28. CINCINNATI BENGALS : (DE) CARLOS DUNLAP – Dunlap got the opportunity last year when Odom went out; Dunlap didn’t disappoint.  Dunlap deserves to start this season and should provide the pass rush to help the Bengals defense, and get around 8 sacks to help your fantasy team as well.
  29. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS : (LB) PAT ANGERER – didn’t expect to start last year but with injuries to the Colts LB’s, Angerer got the opportunity and showcased what he’s capable of.  Pat should post consistent numbers when he gets consistent PT, but keep an eye on Pat.  He’ll be a solid LB2 when he gets the starting nod in Indy.
  30. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS : (DE) AARON KAMPMAN – welcome back Kampman! Saying he’s fully healthy and ready to roll, he’ll easily help the front 4 of the Jaguars.  Might not be back to his “Packers” self but double-digit sacks is not out of reach in a division, better yet conference full of QB studs.  Kampman could be a nice late round pick-up for you.
  31. TENNESSEE TITANS : (DE) DERRICK MORGAN – I’d like to see Morgan get the start this year, he probably will when Babin signs elsewhere.  Even so, the Titans have a depth at the ends an Morgan will have to WANT to get the starting job.  Definitely a fav coming in the draft last year and should give this front 4 a boost.  Morgan will definitely be slept on, but I’m here to tell you, don’t and remember his name come draft day.
  32. HOUSTON TEXANS : (LB) MARIO WILLIAMS – With Wade Philips joining the Texans staff, he brings with him his 3-4 defense.  Mario should be the “Demarcus Ware” in Wade’s defense and if that’s the case, look out.  All Wade will ask of Mario is to rush the passer (i hear Mario’s good at that) and he’ll get a standing start, do I even wonder if Mario can flirt with 15+ sacks? it’s highly possible, especially if JJ Watt’s does well right away.
Whether their rookies, bounce back players, savvy vets or potential studs, I have gone thru all 32 teams and went with 1 player who should be on your radar, a must have or on your watch list.  IDP leagues are the only way to go as it’ll enhance your fantasy football experience as well as getting you amped to root for a certain defensive player to get you so much points to squeeze out a victory during your weekly match-ups.
