*Notes: The top 5 really couldn’t have landed in a better spot; all are in situations where they’ll succeed right away. Add in the recent trade that sent Bills LB Sheppard to the Colts pretty much paved the way for Kiko Alonso, and makes him a very intriguing IDP pick with the potential to be a LB2. Ansah still has some developing to do but he’s going to step right in because who else is going to rush the QB in Detroit? If Mathieu can keep his head straight and stay focused he’s going to ball out at the safety position in Arizona, if he gets the KR duties he’s even more valuable in return yardage leagues. Datone Jones can easily move up ranks, but I believe he’s right where he needs to be, should be solid out the gate for Green Bay who needs a pass rush from the line. Matt Elam couldn’t have landed in a better spot too and with Ravens lacking a safety he’ll get immediate playing time, it’s a good thing coverage doesn’t affect stats (see: Cary Williams) so he could flirt with nearly 100+ tackles.
There are a handful of sleepers in the middle of the rankings such as Quanterus Smith; Vince Williams; Brandon Jenkins and Zaviar Gooden. Zaviar is a solid stash because it’ll make Ayers expendable or it’ll just give Titans much needed depth at LB. Quanterus is another stash because if he returns to form, the Broncos found their replacement for Dumervil. On the bottom half of the rankings, the ones that stand out with potential are Bledi Wreh Wilson, Michael Buchanan and Gerald Hodges who could all start in the immediate future. Bledi sounds like the replacement to either Verner or McCourty and Buchanan can be a solid compliment across Chandler Jones. Hodges can lock up the OLB in Minnesota across Greenway. Corey Lemonier will be a project but when he takes the reigns in year 2, he’ll rise in rankings.
