IDPwithBEE OFF-SEASON EARLY DT RANKINGS

Aloha Everyone,

Getting the train going on off-season rankings to get you guys ahead of the game.  Didn’t do DT rankings before, but with continued growing audience and variety of IDP leagues out there now I will do a ranking for each position.  I will drop some notes majority of the time, and as always feel free to reach me via twitter @IDPwithBEE_DSE

Thank You

RANK PLAYER TEAM AGE BUZZ
JURRELL CASEY TEN 24 coming off a year where he had 9.5 sacks, with Horton in town he should elevate Casey’s game more.
GERALD MCCOY TBB 25 finally became a dominant force and deserves the recognition he’s gotten. Rose to the IDP scene as the DT’s continue to rack up stats.
MARCELL DAREUS BUF 24 in my league he finished 2nd to Kyle Williams (DT1) and an argument could be made for him being #1 DT too.
GENO ATKINS CIN 25 unfortunately the Geno in ’12 wasn’t the Geno in ’13 as he completely disappointed. Don’t lose hope, just has to come back from injury & will be back!
KYLE WILLIAMS BUF 29 finished #1 in my league at the DT spot, a dominant force that’ll help you more than disappoint you. Should have another 2-3 solid seasons left.
DONTARI POE KCC 23 had a helluva start to the ’13 season then slowly disappeared IDP wise, more consistenty expected and another off-season of no bbq he should be even better in ’14.
STAR LOTULELEI CAR 24 having Hardy & Johnson & Kuechly on the defense, Star gets overlooked but as the defense continues to be dominant Star will make his rise in ’14.
JASON HATCHER DAL 31 Solid DT/DL for the ’13 season, can he keep it up? One more good season for Hatcher in Dallas? In DT leagues he’ll prob go high, DL leagues he’s a servicable DL2.
NDAMUKONG SUH DET 27 Suh is a lot to handle for opposing offensive linemen, demands attention but still puts pressure (40) on the QB. DT leagues he’s a solid DT1, DL league’s he floats around DL2.
MICHAEL BROCKERS STL 23 Brockers is a young stud that’s ready to take off, as STL continues to get better on defense Brockers gets better too. Increased his sacks and tackles in year 2, should continue to do so in ’14.
KENDALL LANGFORD STL 28 Brockers teammate in the middle is a tackling machine, tough to find DT’s and say it’s a lock for them to get 5-6 tackles but Langford is one of those guys.
LINVAL JOSEPH NYG 25 one of the IDP standouts from the NYG defense, DT only league’s he was a beast and will have another campaign in ’14. Having a healthy JPP will only help.
NICK FAIRLEY DET 26 Upside is still there with Fairley who had arguably his best season yet and with room to improve he should peak in ’14.
SEN’DERRICK MARKS JAC 26 increasing tackles would be nice, but he did have 8 pass deflections which is sort of a bonus coming from the DT spot. DT2 with a couple of big games under his belt that he can contribute with.
DAMON HARRISON NYJ 25 put up 66 total tackles and little contribution anywhere else, kinda like the “Ninkovich” of the DT’s but tackles = points and that’s what we want, am I right? Could rise in my rankings as off-season grows
CLINTON MCDONALD SEA 27 is a beast in the middle, and having Bryant/Mebane in a rotation is just unfair. Could have a nice year in ’14, and McDonald is servicable as a DT, depth as a DL.
COREY PETERS ATL 25 Falcons need a pass rush or just a defensive linemen to put some pressure on the QB, Peters can contribute there. Peters put up 46 tackles and 5 QB sacks, all career highs and will improve those numbers in ’14. On my sleeper list of DT/DL right now.
CHRIS JONES NEP 23 Did a nice job filling in for Wilfork but who are we kidding he can’t really replace Wilfork though. First few games Jones exploded on the IDP scene, then kinda died down. Should still see playing time and a good source for tackles and occasional sacks.
JARED ODRICK MIA 26 just about as consistent as they come from a production standpoint. Odrick put up 6 5 and now 4.5 sacks in ’13, tackles remained around the 35 total, will he do any more? Probably not, good to have in DT leagues but DL leagues can leave em on waivers.
HENRY MELTON CHI 27 He’s better than being ranked 20, but coming off injury I’m waiting to see how he responds in OTA’s and all and if he’s fully recovered then Melton is going to rise into top 5. Bears missed Melton last season as their run defense was atrocious, so having him back would be nice even his IDP owners would welcome him back.
